For those new to my website, welcome! And for those new and returning, I'm happy to announce I'm partway through a new novel that I hope to release early next year. I wanted to move away somewhat from the comedy I've written till now and explore some themes with deeper subtext. Namely, I've been stuck on this idea of "what if a god no longer wishes to be a god?" In this case I took ancient war gods from various mythologies, and posited "well, maybe they'd just try to disappear into the real world, somewhere no one would look for them," and I found the perfect place: Stehekin, Washington. A town with no roads connected to the outside, at the end of fifty-mile long Lake Chelan, where the only means to reach it are by boat or seaplane. But, supposing these gods are found again by other gods? And suppose these war gods don't go quietly?

This book doesn't yet have a name, but my hope is it'll hit the sweet spot for adults who love mythology and magic in real-life scenarios, as well as for young adults who enjoy following equally young protagonists caught up in events beyond their depth. The main characters are a trio of teenagers that live in Stehekin, and they become hopelessly entangled in the danger and epic events that come from warring gods. I pull from many different mythologies: popular ones like Greek and Norse, and also Scottish, Hungarian, Hinduist, and Buddhist. There is an endless well to draw from ancient mythology, and while some like Greek have been done in excess, I wanted to dabble in other mythologies equally rich and fascinating.

I'll have more updates soon, but for now I hope this idea intrigues you as it does with me. Thank you for reading!
